Casey Denson Law serves clients throughout the State of Mississippi. Very few employment attorneys practice in Mississippi and we are proud to be able to serve clients from the Gulf Coast, to Jackson and Northern Mississippi.

We work on civil rights and employment cases throughout the state. This includes pursuing claims with administrative agencies and court including:

  • the Jackson office of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission;

  • the Jackson office of the U.S. Department of Labor, Wage and Hour Division;

  • the Louisiana or Arkansas offices of the National Labor Relations Board;

  • the Jackson office of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration; and

  • state courts, and federal courts in the Southern and Northern District of Mississippi.

Potential state law claims include:

  • the newly passed Mississippi Equal Pay for Equal Work Act;

  • wrongful discharge in violation of public policy;

  • the right to breastfeed at work;

  • termination without cause and free speech for public employees;

  • limiting unreasonable non-competes;

  • breach of contract; and

  • civil rights and employment claims under the Mississippi Constitution’s free speech and due process clause.

Unfortunately, Mississippi law provides very few protections for workers - luckily, federal law applies so that workers can rely on those claims to ensure they are protected from discrimination and retaliation. However, that does mean Mississippi employees must act much faster than their counterparts in most states - and often have just 180 days to file a claim with the EEOC.
